Multiple sensors for comprehensive assessment
There are multiple types of PD (internal, surface, corona), different types of assets that we may wish to test that can operate at a range of voltages. To deal with these variables, the UltraTEV Plus2 has the capability to use multiple measurement techniques and utilise a range of sensors to allow comprehensive testing of diverse assets and detection of PD.
- Ultrasonic (airborne and contact)
- TEV
- UHF
- HFCT
- Environmental (ambient temperature and relative humidity)
UltraTEV Plus² Locator Probe
The UltraTEV Plus2 Locator probe accessory allows sources of TEV to be accurately located using the time of flight technique. The instrument can determine the direction of travel of the TEV pulses by discriminating timing of pulses arriving at each sensor down to a fraction of a nanosecond - equivalent to a few centimetres in distance. Advanced software enables the instrument to locate PD at multiple discharge sites.
UHF Directional Antenna
The UHF Directional Antenna accessory for the UltraTEV Plus2 is uniquely effective for detecting and locating PD activity in open terminal switchyards. It is also a highly effective instrument for detecting PD problems in cable joints and sealing ends. The antenna is very compact and is specifically designed for safe use inside electrical switchyards. As the antenna is highly directional with a selectable centre measurement frequency it can easily be employed as a first pass safety tool for switchyard entry. It can also be used for surveying and pinpointing individual sources as part of a full site survey.
The instrument can be tuned to avoid other interference related frequencies within the switchyard and will ignore non-destructive corona discharge activity. With its unique ability to detect internal partial discharge activity in high noise environments it complements the use of the UltraTEV Plus² and UltraDish.
